6G-1 Depression Medications: Types of Medications & Side Effects

It’s impossible to predict how anyone will respond to a certain drug. It can take up to four weeks for a medication to work.

People with severe or long-lasting depression may take medication for a long time. Some people may need to try more than one drug before they find the right one or combination.

Even with the right fit, a doctor may need to change the dosage to make the drug more effective or reduce side effects.

Always talk to your doctor before stopping an antidepressant. A doctor needs to gradually reduce the dosage so the patient’s body can adjust.
