Dementia is a brain disorder caused by injury to the brain or disease-causing cognitive deterioration.

Dementia symptoms usually start slow. At first, there may be changes in personality or behavior. The person might wander or be more aggressive than usual.

Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia. Almost six million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease.
