2E. Supported Decision Making

What is supported decision making?

A Supported Decision-Maker is like the legal version of the buddy system.

This agreement is a written understanding between an individual and a trusted adult (supporter) who agrees to provide decision-making assistance to maximize the individual’s ability to make informed and voluntary choices.

Unlike a POA, a Supported Decision-Making agreement does not give someone the authority to act on an individual’s behalf.
